What I do most

The two jobs that bring me to your door

About eight out of ten visits are one of these. If your bike has been sitting, or the gears have started to grumble, a tune-up is almost always the answer.

Tune-Up

Tune-Up

The whole-bike once-over: brakes, gears, chain, tires, and the bolts that rattle loose.

  • Brake pads and cable tension set
  • Gears indexed through the range
  • Chain checked, cleaned and lubed
  • Tires inflated to the right pressure
  • Stem, seatpost and bolts checked
  • A short list of anything that will need attention soon
Flat Fix

Flat Fix

New tube or a proper patch, and the thing that caused it found and dealt with.

  • Wheel off, tire and tube inspected
  • The cause found, not just the hole
  • Tube patched or replaced
  • Rim strip and tire bead checked on refit
  • Wheel back on, brakes and gears checked after

The bigger jobs

Less frequent, takes longer, and I quote it before any work starts. No surprise at the end.

  • 01

    Brake Adjustment

Squealing, grabbing, or a lever that goes nearly to the bar.

    Drivetrain Deep Clean

For the bike that shifts like it is thinking about it.

    Wheel Truing

A wobbly wheel is usually a spoke or two out of tension, not a wheel that needs replacing.

    Full Overhaul

The bike comes apart, gets cleaned and rebuilt. The long job, and the one I do least often.

Something not on the list? Ask me — if I can’t do it in a driveway, I’ll say so.

How it works

Four steps,
no car trip.

The whole point is that it’s easy. You do the first step; I do the rest of it in your driveway.

  1. 01

Tell me what the bike is doing

Text me, or send the request form below. What it is doing, roughly where you are, and the day that suits you.

  2. 02

We agree on a day and a time

I text back with a window. No all-day waiting — a time, and a text if anything shifts.

  3. 03

    I come to your place

Stand, tools, work mat, and the parts I expect to need. Driveway, carport, porch, back yard — wherever the bike lives.

  4. 04

    Fixed on the spot

A tune-up or a flat is usually done in one visit. If I find something bigger, you hear about it before I touch it.

Where I ride to

All of Asheville.
All of West Asheville.

Wherever the bike lives — a house off Haywood, an apartment downtown, a porch up a hill in Kenilworth. If you’re inside city limits, you’re inside my range.

Just outside? Send the request anyway and tell me where you are. I’ll say yes or no honestly rather than leave you waiting.

Why it works

Three things
I hold to.

An unrolled canvas tool roll on asphalt, holding a full set of wrenches, a pump, a chain tool and a rag

I show up when I said I would

A time is a time. If something changes, you get a text before you start wondering where I am. This is the whole business, really.

The price is settled on the spot

I look at the bike, tell you what it needs and what that costs, and only then do the work. No invoice showing up a week later with items you did not agree to.

Your driveway, not a waiting room

You can watch, ask questions, or go back inside. The bike never leaves your sight, and it never sits in a shop queue behind twelve other bikes.

Request a visit

Tell me about
the bike.

Five fields, one minute. It comes straight to my phone and I’ll reply with a day and a time — usually the same day.

Rather just talk?

(218) 695-8367

Call or text, whichever is easier. If I’m under a bike, leave a message and I’ll call back.

What does the bike need?

Straight to my phone. No account, no email list.

A note on prices & photos

There are no prices printed on this page, and that is on purpose — a tune-up on a well-kept commuter is not the same job as a tune-up on a bike that has sat in a shed for six years. Ask and you get a real number before anything is agreed. Same with the pictures: the photos here show the work, not a showroom. My own photos of the van and the jobs I have done, and the reviews customers have written, will take their place here as they come in.
